Overview & Reviews
Only minor changes are made to Chevrolet's bread-and-butter Silverado pickup for 2002. Some options packages have been revamped for easier ordering and all extended-cab models now come standard with a four-speed automatic transmission, with the manual no longer available.
- Roomy extended cab models, strong V8 engines, available composite bed, disc brakes at all four corners, optional traction control.
- Cheap interior materials, sketchy build quality.

Happy to own, sad to let it go - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Bowtie for Life - March 27 - 7:26 amI love this truck. The only reason I am getting rid of it is to get a 2008 Chevy Extended cab (growing family). If you like a quick powerful truck, this has all you need. 5.3L. It is comfortable and fun to drive. fuel is about 16 mpg. i have ridden in all models and to me (comparing same year models) there is no comparison, this truck is heads and shoulders above the rest. whether you are brand loyal or not...you will buy this truck if you drive it.

Best Truck I Have Ever Owned - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By STHORNWALL - February 10 - 3:13 amAbsolutely the best truck I have ever owned. This is my 4th truck.I owned a 1996 Dodge Ram,1996 Chevy Cheyenne,2001 Ford F150 and now my 2002 Silverado. Its performance and sturdy reliability has turned me off to any other brand of truck. The ride is very smooth on and off road. The truck has great response to aftermarket intake, headers, and exaust. The interior looks great and is very comfortable as well as long lasting and easy to maintain. I was discouraged at the price of this truck at first because they are notably more expensive than Ford, Dodge, Toyota. But after about a week of driving I realized that You get what you pay for. Truck was worth every penny and more. Wont buy another brand ever

A Solid Reliable Beaut - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By RickH - July 14 - 2:00 amI have had this truck just about a year. So far I havent experienced the problems noted in some of the other reviews. The truck handles great, lots of power when I need it and just an all round joy to own and drive. I am concerned about other peoples experiences with GM regarding thier handling of deficiencies. But if my experience thus far with both the truck and the dealership continue dealing with GM Corp. Customer Service wont be an issue. I bought this truck because of styling and percieved Chev quality, so far I have not been disapointed.

Good Truck - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By BWHITE - July 9 - 11:16 amI purchased this truck used with 15,000 miles on it, I now have 45,000 on it 2 years later. I have had no problems with the truck mechanicaly. I tow a ski boat reguarly and fuel economy is only slightly effected. Only problems I have include, the leather seats cracking prematurly, and the dash has a few spots that are chipping. I get better than avertised with fuel economy, i get about 17 mpg city and 20 hwy with the 5.3L V-8. However, I do drive with a light foot and I have a bed cover on the truck. My father has a 2005 4wd Ford F-150 with an idetical bed cover and he gets better gas milage that that, however the chevy seems to handle towing better and is more manuverable.

2002 Chev Silverado - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By gavin carrigan - May 22 - 1:48 pmLove EVERYTHING about this vehicle and miss it dearly. Totaled on 3-31-2016 because some people dont pay attention/drive and text. Would love to have this vehicle back. Much nicer than my 2007 version. 02 totaled out still valued at $9500 from adjuster. Total shame too because she had atleast another 100k left in her. Shame.

sexy - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By kheperia - January 19 - 2:00 amMy boyfriend bought this truck to use for himself- I urged him to b/c of the dead sexy look of any Chevy. I drive a little Hyundai for the fuel economy- but we have been having horrible windy, snowy weather lately. My man was able to get me out of a ditch in his baby when the 80mph wind and ice sent me spinning. And now I get to drive it whenever we have nasty weather cause it handles the ice and wind so well.

Excellent truck - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By mk - January 16 - 1:26 pmBought the truck with a lot of highway miles, still runs like a champ. Had a Ford Ranger 4.0 liter engine that drank gas, this truck with a 5.3 L V-8 gets better gas mileage and will absolutely run like a scared dog up the mountains. Plenty of power to spare, comfortable, and an excellent value. Never had a full size truck, but Chevy makes me proud to own this truck. Classic looks that wont run out in the next few years, but I will own it a lot longer. I am just not interested in a new truck when my old truck runs like this and looks good.

Very Good Truck - 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
By Connell - August 8 - 10:00 amThese are great trucks. I have owned Chevy trucks in the past and have always sworn by them. For the last year and a half I have been driving a Ford 150XLT, and I would have to say that the Fords are junk. I still have the Ford because it is a company vehicle, but I needed another Chevy truck just for the pleasure of driving one.
